A Little Explosion

I've been meaning to post this for awhile. School ended over two weeks ago. Yay! (Sorry KL and DD) My AP Chemistry students had been asking to see a bigger version of the sodium with water reaction that we do inside in the lab so I decided to end the school year with a decently sized piece in a bucket of water. The sodium that we used did not react quite as vigorously as some of the pieces I've used in the past. The new jar of sodium that we purchased is lame. Anyway, here are some videos of the reactions.
